Vintage ’24 – Another successful year

September 2024 brought a special atmosphere to the island of Hvar, because the vineyards of Poljica and St. Sunday came to life during the grape harvest. This tradition, which has been held for centuries, marks not only the end of one cycle, but also the beginning of a new one, full of hope and expectation.

Vineyards of Poljica and Sveta Nedilja

This year, vineyards in Poljica and Sveta Nedilja proved to be extremely fruitful. Many winegrowers have worked with love throughout the year, preparing their vines for this important season. The month of September, with ideal weather conditions, allowed the grapes to reach optimal maturity.

Harvest Varieties

During the harvest, we focused on three autochthonous varieties: Bogdanuša, Plavac Mali and Pošip.

Bogdanuša: This white variety, known for its freshness and fruity notes, is a dam with special care. Its maturity brings characteristic aromas of citrus and flowers, which will manifest themselves in future wines.

Plavac Mali: The king of Hvar’s red wines, Plavac Mali, was collected from the steep slopes, where the sun shone in full force. This variety brings strong tannins and rich flavors, perfect for aging and creating top quality wines.

Pošip: This white variety, which also occupies a special place among Hvar wines, is a dam at an ideal moment, providing complexity and aromatics that will enrich any wine.

Harvesting and processing process

Harvesting grapes on Hvar is not only a physical job, but also a ritual that involves the whole community. Family members and friends gather to share in this important moment together. The grapes are carefully picked, sorting the best bunches for further processing.

After harvesting, the grapes are transported to wineries where the processing process begins. The winemakers follow every step with special attention, to ensure that the quality of the wine is at the highest level.

The grape harvest on Hvar in September 2024 was a special occasion to mark the tradition and passion for viticulture. Vineyards of Poljica and St. On Sunday, they proudly displayed the wealth of their varieties, and the joy of harvesting brought the community together again. This vintage not only marks the end of the season, but also a new chapter in the creation of wines that will carry the spirit of the island of Hvar.
